1. Who We Are

Lightnovel Archive ("we", "us", or "our") is an online reading platform that aggregates and hosts translated light novels. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address, chosen username, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google profile name and avatar. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

Reading activity

We store your reading progress (which chapter you reached and your scroll position), reading history (which chapters you have opened and when), library status (reading, completed, etc.), and ratings and comments you submit.

Usage data

We aggregate anonymous view counts per novel. We do not log individual IP addresses or track you across other websites.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and personalise the reading experience (progress sync, library, recommendations)
To enable community features (comments, ratings)
To send transactional emails (email confirmation, password reset)
To detect and prevent abuse
To improve the service through aggregate analytics

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

Supabase

Our database and authentication are powered by Supabase (US). Your account credentials, profile data, and reading records are stored on Supabase-managed PostgreSQL. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Google OAuth

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google will share your name, email address, and profile picture with us. You can revoke this access at any time via your Google account settings. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare (R2 & CDN)

Chapter content is stored on Cloudflare R2 and served via Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP, user-agent) in transit. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Vercel

The application is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use a single session cookie managed by Supabase to keep you logged in. We also use your browser's localStorage to remember your preferred reading theme and font size. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

6. Data Retention

Your account and associated data are retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, reading history, comments, and ratings will be permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; object to or restrict processing; and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@lightnovelarchive.net.

8. Children's Privacy

This service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. DMCA & Content Removal

If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA takedown notice to privacy@lightnovelarchive.net with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Request" and include: identification of the copyrighted work, the infringing URL, your contact information, and a statement of good faith. We will respond promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
